Scott joined Riis Cycling at the end of the 2004 season. Bjarne's team CSC was known, not only for their solid performances but also for the way the team management, under the professional guidance of Bjarne Riis had created a unique atmosphere and philosophy, unknown before in Professional Road Cycling.
Scott enjoyed an excellent first year as Sports director with them, with Team CSC reaching a record-breaking number of victories in the 2005 season.
Team CSC finished a monumental year by being listed as number one in the world!
With 54 wins, Team CSC and Riis Cycling A/S had gained a key position in professional sports management on a worldwide scale.
Thorough planning, technologically new approaches, team spirit and an exceptionally broad crew was the foundation stone of its success, which included some of the most important prestigious trophies in the sport.
In 2005 Ivan Basso had captured the Pink Leader's Jersey in the Giro d'Italia as well as a second place in Tour de France, David Zabriskie and Jens Voigt captured two Yellow Jerseys in the Tour, Carlos Sastre finished third in Vuelta a España and the team had stage victories in all three Grand Tours. Bobby Julich's victory in Paris-Nice was also among the highlights of a phenomenal year that pointed toward a fantastic 2006.
2006 again saw the team gather many victories: The team finished first in the ProTour Overall Rankings and obtained a total of 51 victories.
Scott's meticulous planning and preparation for the team in his favourite Spring Classics resulted in Fabian Cancellara winning the toughest of Classics: Paris-Roubaix, a race so cruel and hard it is also known as The Hell of the North.
Fabian also became Time Trial World Champion, while Fränk Schleck won Amstel Gold Race and the legendary Tour de France-stage victory on Alpe d'Huez as he finished the year as number three in the ProTour rankings.
Ivan Basso won Giro d'Italia.
Jens Voigt gained a stage in Tour de France plus no less than three stages and the overall classification in Deutschland Tour. Finally Carlos Sastre finished all three Grand Tours as the only rider in 2006 and he even finished fourth in both Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana.
Sastre improved on these statistics in 2007, where he was fourth in Tour de France and second in Vuelta a España, where he also received a lot of praise for his eagerness to attack throughout the race.
Earlier in the year Stuart O'Grady celebrated the biggest triumph of his career with a magnificent victory in Paris-Roubaix.
Jens Voigt defended his victory in Deutschland Tour.
The major break troughs were down to Andy Schleck and Chris Anker Sørensen. Schleck took a brilliant second place in Giro d'Italia and Sørensen a sixth place in Deutschland Tour as well as a top-20 spot in the Vuelta.
Last but not least Fabian Cancellara was on a roll with seven days in the yellow jersey during Tour de France and another gold medal at the Time Trial World Championships. These championships also saw Alexandr Kolobnev take a silver medal in the road race.
2008 was no lesser year for team CSC.
Last season, the team won all types of races and showed that they were the best throughout the year. Bjarne Riis' team continued to field one of the most competitive squads in all of cycling, and his director's eye for talent elicits results year in and year out.
CSC started off the year with solid results, with Fabian Cancellara taking a top 5 and Juan Jose Haedo a stage win at the Tour of California in February.
One month later, Cancellara was at it again, as he won the Italian classic Monte Paschi Eroica.
Meanwhile, his teammate Jens Voigt took the overall at Criterium International in France.
Cancellara held his form for a few more weeks in March after his Eroica win, and took the overall win at Tirreno-Adriatico before netting his biggest win of the year at the Italian monument Milan-San Remo.
Cancellara then finished second at Paris-Roubaix, closing out a successful spring classics season for CSC.
Another strong result from the spring was Kurt Asle-Arvesen's win at the semi-classic E3 Prijs Vlaanderen.
Finally, Matti Breschel capped off an amazing early season with a big win at the Philadelphia International Championship in June.
When the grand tours rolled around, it was Jens again, this time at the Giro, where he won stage 6.
With Carlos Sastre, the two Schlecks and Cancellara at the Tour de France in July, CSC stamped their authority on the race and took the overall win behind masterful riding from Sastre. Kurt Asle-Arvesen also added a stage win at the Tour
.
At the Vuelta, Carlos Sastre rode valiently for a third place finish overall, and Breschel took top honours on stage 21, setting the stage for an electric ride at the world championships in Varese, Italy a month later.
CSC has long worked as a cohesive unit to achieve the results that they do each year. But in 2008, everything seemed to come together for the Danish team, especially at the Tour.
At the end of the season, Scott was approached by
British Cycling's High Performance Manager Dave Brailsford to take up the role of Sports Manager in
2009 and help build the first British Professional Cycling Team to join the Pro Tour in
2010, Sky ProCycling Team
He is currently working as a consultant to different entities in the sport and continues to scout for young cycling talent.
Scott's aim is to direct talented riders to the right team: "I have seen how important it is for a rider to be in a team which will suit his abilities and ambitions and help him nurture that talent properly. To place a young rider in the right environment and seeing him achieve his goals is very rewarding. I enjoy it immensely."
